Born from the personal frustration of trying to find a home that actually met my own needs, as well as my housemates’, LETLOOSE was an AI powered natural language search tool - to find properties that exactly matched what you were looking for. The user was able to search, in plain english, exactly the requirements of the house they wanted, for example:
“A three bedroom house in Cathays equidistant from the computer science building, and the university hospital, with a garden”
and LETLOOSE was able to find properties which closely matched those constraints.
The way this worked was, we had partnered with letting agents around Cardiff, who had agreed to us scraping their listings, running them through a deep enrichment pipeline — using computer vision, LLMs, historical data, mapping data and more — and building a catalog of highly granular details around each house that went through the pipe. We then served these properties on our platform, and redirected users to the original letting agent’s website on the individual property page.
The LETLOOSE MVP was built by myself and co-founder Oliver Hardman we had partnerships with a few letting agents in Cardiff and a working demo.
As well as being able to do the basic filtering and sorting as traditional platforms, LETLOOSE went a step further by analysing communities and providing users with an insight into what living in a specific area might actually be like.
This, paired with PARTY (think Spotify Jam) allowed for users to find homes that matched theirs and everyone in their group’s needs and have an enjoyable letting experience.
